30C Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit

Businesses: 6% of cost up to $100,000 per item (per charging port). 30% up to $100,000 per item if prevailing wage + apprenticeship requirements met.

Deadline: Must be placed in service by June 30, 2026 (was Dec 31, 2032 before OBBB) Eligible: Businesses and tax-exempt organizations installing EV charging or alternative-fuel refueling property at sites in eligible census tracts (low-income community or non-urban). Tax-exempt entities can claim via elective pay.

Single biggest urgency hook for 2026. Installations must be placed in service by Jun 30 2026. Geographic eligibility: low-income community or non-urban census tract — most California metros qualify in specific tracts; check IRS Appendix B (2020 GEOIDs) before quoting.
